P.F. CHANG’S CHINA BISTRO IN HAWAII
First restaurant to be located at Hokua in the Victoria Ward area, Summer 2006
HONOLULU – (January 20, 2005) –The MacNaughton Group and its affiliate, Café Hawaii Partners which owns and operates Starbucks Coffee and Jamba Juice stores in Hawaii, announced plans to introduce P.F. Chang’s China Bistro (NASDAQ:PFCB) restaurants to Hawaii through PFC Hawaii, LLC, a newly formed joint venture with P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, Inc. PFC Hawaii, LLC will be the exclusive licensee for the state of Hawaii.
The first P.F. Chang’s restaurant in Hawaii is slated to open in summer 2006 on the ground floor of Hokua, a high-rise, luxury residential condominium currently under construction on Auahi Street in the Victoria Ward area. The restaurant will occupy approximately 7,500 square feet and current plans include customer seating of 282 with 166 seats in the main dining room, an outdoor dining area with 74 seats, a 42-seat bar and a station to accommodate take out orders. P.F. Chang’s typically employs 125 – 150 employees per restaurant.
PFC Hawaii, LLC has committed to open at least three P.F. Chang’s restaurants in Hawaii (including the Hokua site), however, the total number of restaurants will ultimately depend on numerous factors including customer demand and the availability of real estate locations that meet P.F. Chang’s site criteria. Future P.F. Chang’s sites in Hawaii will be announced as agreements are finalized.
Café Hawaii Partners owns and operates a group of companies that includes Coffee Partners Hawaii and Café del Caribe, the exclusive licensees of Starbucks Coffee in Hawaii and Puerto Rico, respectively, as well as JJC Hawaii, LLC and JJC Florida, LLC, the exclusive licensees of Jamba Juice in Hawaii and Florida, respectively. PFC Hawaii, LLC will manage the day-to-day operations, finance, marketing, human resources and development of the P.F. Chang’s brand in Hawaii. The MacNaughton Group, whose principals are partners in Café Hawaii Partners, provides real estate development support for Starbucks and Jamba Juice in Hawaii and will provide a similar role for P.F. Chang’s Hawaii development efforts.
P.F. Chang’s is a fresh, contemporary restaurant concept that provides a unique combination of Chinese cuisine, attentive service and tempting desserts all served in a stylish, high-energy bistro. The cuisine is reflective of China's evolving culinary landscape and features traditional Chinese offerings and innovative dishes . Working in a dramatic exhibition kitchen, P.F. Chang’s chefs use Mandarin style wok cooking, using only the freshest, highest quality ingredients, to prepare the dynamic menu.
